On the first of March we went to the school garden and picked our delicious beetroot.
First we cut the leaves off with the scissors and brought the beetroot inside our amazing school.
Second we gave them a scrub clean and put them in a big pot, we added some water and put them on to boil for 30 minutes. When they were tender, we put them out in the bowl to cool.
While they were cooling we made the preserving mixture and put it on to cook. Next we topped and tailed the beetroot and peeled them. We sliced them and put in to jars and poured the preserving mixture in. Isla and Tiana screwed the lids on the jars. After that our hands looked as though we had murdered the beetroot. Oh no!
